欧洲专利局（后文将简称为“欧专局”）《欧洲专利申请指南》("Guide for applicants")旨在帮助申请人了解欧洲发明专利授权程序，并提供如何应对程序各阶段相关事宜的实用性建议。该指南一共分为两个部分。其中第一部分("How to get a European patent, Guide for applicants") 针对的是希望提起欧洲专利直接申请的申请人，而第二部分("Euro-PCT Guide: PCT procedure at the EPO"，也被称为《Euro-PCT申请指南》) 针对的则是有意通过PCT途径申请欧洲发明专利的申请人。
欧专局于2023年7月中旬通过其官方网站发布通告，《欧洲专利申请指南》第二部分（即《Euro-PCT申请指南》）已经更新。我们在此将欧专局更新后的《欧洲专利申请指南》第二部分的《Euro-PCT申请指南》简要介绍如下：
《Euro-PCT申请指南》（“Euro-PCT Guide: PCT procedure at the EPO”）
此次更新的第十六版（更新至2023年1月）《欧洲专利申请指南》第二部分《Euro-PCT申请指南》概述了涉及到欧专局的PCT程序，其中包括通过PCT程序进入欧洲阶段（欧专局作为指定局或者选定局）。欧专局《Euro-PCT申请指南》既有别于世界知识产权组织（World Intellectual Property Organization，简称“WIPO"）发布的PCT申请指南（"WIPO PCT Guide"），也并不会取代世界知识产权组织的相关规定以及欧专局针对具体问题做出的决定和通知。
同时，官方也提醒申请人注意此次发布的第十六版的《Euro-PCT申请指南》更新截止到2023年1月1日，因此申请人在参考此指南时，应特别注意核实相关的变更程序是否自2023年1月1日起发生效力。
《Euro-PCT申请指南》的目的在于提供当欧专局作为以下单位时应注意的问题：
- 受理局（RO）
- 国际检索单位（ISA）
- 补充国际检索单位（SISA）
- 国际初步审查单位（IPEA）
- 指定局或选定局（a designated office or elected office）
《Euro-PCT申请指南》包含了开头和主体两个部分。开头部分涵盖以下内容：A为术语和缩略词，B以流程图形式显示了PCT申请在国际阶段和欧洲阶段的情况，C则以时间轴形式呈现了通过PCT途径申请欧洲发明专利的具体情况。
《Euro-PCT申请指南》的主体部分中，第一章概述和第五章关于欧专局作为指定局和选定局的程序则与中国申请人关系紧密。为方便中国申请人及代理人迅速查询所需信息，现将《Euro-PCT申请指南》主体部分的目录（尤其是与中国申请人密切相关的第一章和第五章）翻译如下：
